Title: 1300 Browning Nickel Plated 6's
Post by: Spring Creek Calls on June 09, 2016, 07:01:24 AM
1300 Winchester, 22" barrel with an extended .562 lead only choke. Shot 1 round thru a clean barrel, Browning 3" 1-1/4 oz. of nickel plated 6's at a lasered 30 yards. This is a 14" x 14" target. More testing coming with hevi/HVYWT when I receive a high density tube.

New collaboration between Browning and Winchester, with Winch loading shells and rifle cartridges to Browning's specs. Browning used to put out shotshells back in the 70s, but I don't know who loaded those.

Was hoping they had 7-1/2's. I believe a 3" nickel plated 7-1/2 would be a tremendous under 40 yard turkey load. I know not everyone will agree.

I would not want to rely on lead 7.5s beyond 35 yds due to lack of penetration. But I would much rather shoot lead 7.5s that put up 100/10 at 35 yds, than a load of 6s that run out of pattern at 30. You will have increased your max range by 5 yds. It's all about balancing pattern density with pellet energy.

Those 7.5's will do the trick at 40 yards with ease so long as the pattern density is there. Not going into the whole "how I know this" deal but they'd be just fine.
