Title: Recommendations for a scratch box
Post by: Cottonmouth on March 07, 2016, 10:12:10 PM
Hey guys, looking to try a scratch box. What do you like and what type of wood combinations to go with? Trying to give them something besides the old diaphragm and pot call sounds.

Kwila and butternut from SS Custom calls. Al and Josh make great scratch boxes. Very forgiving in my opinion.

Mike Crooks (Spring Creek), SS, Lonnie Gilbert are just a few I'd start off with on here. All affordable and all sing hen turkey...

Probably going to try a SS kwila and butternut. I looked up some sound tracks and sounds pretty hard to beat. I may just start a collection.

Lonnie makes a beautiful scratch call and its economical. By the way, it sounds great. Check him out at buckeye boxes on the forum.
