Title: Always on guard

...lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.
2 Corinthians 2:11

2 Corinthians 2:1-11
Two books have withstood two millennia of scrutiny. One is far superior to the other, but both warn us to know our enemy. The Art of War, an ancient military manual by Chinese general Sun Tzu, says, "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles."

The better book, the Bible, also tells us to beware our enemy and know his methods; and its information is inspired. Peter told us to be sober and vigilant against Satan (1 Peter 5:8). Paul told us to stand against the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). And 2 Corinthians 2 warns that when we fail to forgive another person, the devil can take advantage of us. He finds a foothold in an unforgiving spirit. He uses it like a wormhole to bore into our souls and pipe toxic fumes into our personalities.

If we know the enemy, we can be victorious over the enemy. Ask the Lord to show you if you're in danger of falling for any of the tricks and devices of the devil.
