If I wanted to get into turkey calling competitively would I be able to with store bought calls, or would custom calls be better?

Just practice and go with store calls. Enter a hunter division and have fun. Talk to better callers and ask advise. Most of all have fun. Good luck

Call with something that you are comfortable with.
