Title: SP-10 Pattern Picture
Post by: tha bugman on April 11, 2014, 11:35:57 AM
24"barrel Jellyhead choke Nitro 4X5X7  I know that the gun will do better than this so I am going to keep experimenting but until then I think this will get the job done at 40 yards!

My SP10 with a .695 Jellyhead gets 221 with mag blends with a dirty barrel, and I think it should do better than it does also. In my opinion, the ideal shell for this gun would be a 2.25 oz mix of 6 and 7 hevi shot. I just dont see the need for number 4 and 5 shot.

yeah I agree I had some Mag Blends out of a dirty barrel that I just could not get POI centered....then I thought I bet if I polished that barrel it may work better...but by that time I had shot them all up and wanted to try the Nitros since my buddy had such good results.  I think I am going to give the mag blends another shot...along with getting maybe a pattern master to try for next year...but the old question remains.."How dead do you want him?"  Back in the day I would have killed for the numbers we are getting now!

But when guys in the 20 gauge forum are posting better numbers than this, it seems we are banging our head up against the wall by carrying a big bulky gun around to get the same results!

Boy what a ways we have come in ammo in just 5 years!!!! I see posts above where I used to think Hevi shot was the bomb. I went from 200 to near 500 hits by switching to TSS. Where will be in another 5 years?

Yes sir handloads we are shooting with TSS 9's are getting 550 to 625 in the 10" and another 350 to 400 in the 20" consistently out of three different 10's. Was getting good groups with the Apex loads but the 10's really shine with handloads!
