Title: SBE2 + Kicks GT + Mag Blend
Post by: Gadget on June 10, 2012, 09:19:34 PM
SBE2 24" barrel
Kicks Gobbling Thunder .665
3.5 Mag Blend 2.25oz
Chrono'd @ 1178fps, Temp 78
40yds
279 in 10
437 in 20

Helped a buddy mount a Docter and sight in his gun, don't really know what the average is with the blends but thought this was pretty good. I wanted to try a couple of my more open chokes but he was ecstatic with it and didn't want to try anything else.

Just so you know. Kicks Gobbling Thunder chokes are not recommended for steel shot, or Hevi shot.

You can shoot hevi shot through that kicks all day long.... I have mine for years..

Can't say that I blame him. That's a heck of a pattern.

X2 - those are strong numbers. If my mossy turned 270 + with the MB's I'd stop too.

Thought it was pretty good but I had never shot any blends so didn't know. He shouldn't have any excuses for next year..... ;D

Awesome pattern!
Not to rain on your parade but what a previous poster said is true regarding the recommendation...I spoke to Kicks' and after telling me it was o.k.one year and the next telling me officially not to do it but it was o.k. The third year they told me they didn't recommend it and it wasn't safe.
I had been using it with Hevi 13, #6 and hadn't had any trouble at all but decided that I'd try something else since, if anything did go wrong, Kicks had a way out of responsibility...Like I say, not trying to rain on your parade, cause that is a phenomenal pattern...Just imparting info. so you know...

I though you couldn't shoot steel shot through a kicks goblin thunder.

That pattern is awesome. I combined my x3 with the hevi shot choke with magnums and thought the pattern was good at 40. I was mistaken!
