Title: chubbyone's SBE 2
Post by: chubbyone on February 29, 2012, 11:40:12 AM
Guys thanks for following along with this thread. I have found a winner. Indian Creek Hevi Shot 3.5 #7 shot. Got 350 in 12 inch circle at forty yards.
Jellyhead       Hevi Shot 3.5 #7 shot. Got 317 in 12 inch circle at forty yards.
Indian Creek Hevi Shot 3.5 #6 shot.  Got 258.
Jellyhead      Hevi Shot 3.5 #6 shot.  Got 250.

The Yardage was shot with range finder. It was very windy today and I did not clean barrel after yesterdays patterning. I am happy now and thanks for all the help.

P.S. Reason for 12 inch circle, thats all I could find in shop. LOL

I knew those straight 6's and 7's would get it done for you! That pattern is a head buster for sure

What are your choke constrictions?
Lot #s on your ammo too?

Ghillie, I have not tried any other chokes. The only other thing I will try this year is a 50 yard pattern.
I have spent a ton of money already besides the 1500 dollar gun.  I will proably do some more patterning with different choke or two next year. Pretty satisfied with what I have.

Found 10 in. bowl and did a recount.

Hevi 13 #7's 3.5 in. at 40 yards in a 10 in. circle. 275
Hevi 13 #6's 3.5 in. at 40 yards in a 10 in. circle. 221

Still very happy with results.

What??   I don't shoot 50 yards either but I do want to know what it would do at 50!  I like em close also but I hunt nothing but open areas fields and so forth.... I always pattern at 40 an in but I also did at 50. When you are sitting on the ground an he hangs up a little farther out  it is a little hard to judge the exact distance.. I just wanted a pattern to  give me a little extra edge in case I misjudge.... and still have a dead bird... last shot was 43 yards and it was with h13 7s , killed him dead.... I wouldn't of took the shot if I wasn't confident...just like the guys that won't take a shot with a bow at certain distances... to  each his own for sure

It's not up for discussion.  No discussion of shots over 40 or patterns over 40 on OG.  What you do in private is your business but over 40 is not allowed on the site. End of Story!

I got 336 in a 10" circle @ 40 yds with a final strut .650 choke out of a SBE 2 using H-13 #7....however they were not so great in the penetration department,in fact some were falling out as i toof the paper off the board....just not sure bout penetration, lead was actually penetrating better.....jus not sure. ONLY ONE WAY TO TELL !!!!!!! HAPPY HUNTIN!!!!!
