For the money it is hard to beat a Mossy Oak Super Elite III made by Russell Outdoors. For about twice the money you can get an Ole Tom I-beam and it is a great vest as well. The Tat'r vests by Cabelas are good. I would recommend getting your hands on them if possible to see what grabs you. There are at least three recent similar threads here on OG with a lot of good info on current vests if you want to search and read them.

Macks Prarie Wing has SEIII for $40.  That price is hard to beat.

As a buyer of many vests, I agree with this, the SE III is a very good vest.  I just ordered the new SE III Treklite in MO Bottlomland, hope I like it as much as my other SE vests!

Hey, new to the forum. The SEIII is by far the best vest on the market. The seat cushion is thick and it has tons of pockets. Great  purchase for me.

There is no absolute best, it comes down to preference.

The ones mentioned above are good and add the Russell Limbhanger to the list for consideration.

It really is a matter of choice and personal preference. I have the Tactical Tater 3 and I really like it, good cushion plenty of pockets, and it does let your back get some air but I carry lots of stuff. Best advice is above go to a store that stocks them and try them on it is the best way to make sure "you" get what you want.

I am going to try the Ol Tom Strap Vest this year, i've used an Primos Vest for the last 3 and its worn out. Ordered mine from Macks it was the cheapest price that i could find in my quick search at work.

Personally, I like the Elite 3 myself, but a vest is like your calls, in that it is a very personal choice.
My recommendation is to try several out if you can, and decide for yourself what suits your needs. :anim_25:

I have been through more than my share of vests in 25 years.  Your style of hunting should be dictate your vest choice or not.
Run and Gun, Sit and wait, watch and stalk, ectt...  I spend alot of time out west and crawl and stalk.  Vests are not very practical there for me to use.
My best and most durable vest is a Limited Edition Mossy Oak Bob Dixon Vest.
I like the Elite 3,  always has been a very well made vest.
Also like most vests with built in stadium seats for long wait or out west where everything bites!
Ol Tom vest was too lightweight for my likes and i torn it up in 1 season.

I have a Red Head, but it appears they don't make it anymore.  This will be my 3rd season with it, it's been really fantastic.

http://www.basspro.com/RedHead-for-Her-Camo-Turkey-Vests-for-Ladies/product/10210730/40858

Looks a bit like this ladies vest; with a comfy chair, decoy bag, lots of pockets, plus it facilitates a hydration bladder.

It works great for me, I can spend the day in the field on foot, and not need anything else.  Shove some snacks in the pockets with my calls, and off I go.

I just ordered and recieved my first SE III.  Found it on wing supply for $39.  Obviously I have not hunted with it yet, but it seems like I will like it.  Prior to this season I have been using a Primos Strap Vest.  Hated it.  Some of the snaps ripped out the first season and I don't think I will ever go back to a strap vest again unless the straps have some serious padding.

I have a Cabellas Tactical 1st model. I like it,I think it's 3 seasons old. Before that was an H.S. I wore that one for a while. It's all about the comfort, and of course the cushion for your bottom.

I just  purchased a ol tom i beam vest at the nwtf convention. I like it because it will hold more than one box  call , is light weight and provides back support when leaning against a tree.I get hot turkey hunting in hot weather and that is why i chose a strap type vest like the ol tom.Only time will tell but  i think i am going to like it alot.

That is a very personal decision. It depends on what you are looking for in a vest. Mobility? The ability to carry lots of gear? How many pokets do you want? A couple big pockets, or several smaller compartments?

I'd suggest going to bass pro, Cabella or one of the similar type stores (I'm not endorsing any particular retailer) and check them out and try them on  with those things in mind. I have an Ol' Tom that I really like. It is a full vest and here in the South it gets HOT, and I wish it were a little lighter weight with straps, but pay attention to the pockets, how it is laid out and easy you can organize your gear and access it easily, etc.

Good luck.

I love my SEIII, but my next vest will be the Limbhanger.  Awesome layout for the calls/gear and a really nice and thick seat/pad.  Just wish they offered it in bottomland camo.
