I’ve got the 24in barrel and the stock .665 with #9 boss Tom.  Shoots ON at 30 and 40 w/ the bead.

I realize that you said that you want to shoot 9's, but unless you just cant find the Ninja 8.5's in stock, I would hunt that setup and save dropping 75-100 dollars on another choke to try. That is a solid setup based on the pictures you posted, as your forty pattern is beyond smoked, and you look to still have between 12-15 in the vitals at fifty. And the 8.5's hit harder anyway.

You just need to keep in mind how tight that twenty yard pattern is. That is a touch tighter than most 20-yard patterns I see with that load. You have to aim small if he is at fifteen steps and it is not always easy to do when the adrenaline is flowing and he is weaving and bobbing across the ridge. Hope you score in the woods soon.

All the 940 owners do you see a gap between choke tube and barrel end? Like around 1/32"? I even bought a new Indian River #1  .660 choke and it has the gap too. So its either manufactured that way, or mine is messed up. Inside the barrel it looks normal so I'm hoping others have this. Sorry to hijack the thread as I didnt know where to post to 940 owners....

Yes it's normal to have a gap. The most important thing is it's flush with the inside of the barrel.  On the outside it's just cosmetic.  Good luck.
