I love to hunt Big Woods Bucks in the off season. No acorns this year in our woods made it tough to hone in on patterning the Big Guys. Finally today, a Big Woods monarch slipped up and gave me a rare daylight chance. I closed the deal on this 22 inch bruiser. A fitting end to a tough grind, very rewarding. Be safe....

Thank you, yes I am probably as hooked on these guys as much as our beloved turkeys. I don't do much reading, but I enjoy a great book that gives great insight to these mystery deer called Mapping Trophy Bucks. The author shares all his knowledge regarding pursuing these guys, it really helped me. They are mostly nocturnal, but will make daylight mistakes, I was fortunate to be there when some did....thanks again...

Growing up hunting Jersey, South, mostly pine barrens, took me 13 years to connect with a buck, between deer clubs and brown and down mentality, there just weren't a lot of deer. Tom, I know North Jersey has a bear and coyote problem besides every square inch being built on, bucks now live in backyards to escape the pressure. Great job finding a buck like that that hasn't been poached! Will you get it mounted?

Thanks Jeff, yes he is going on my wall. He surely made the cut, I will always look up at him with respect and remember how lucky I was to harvest him. Those Pine Barrens sure look like nice woods when I travel the parkway!. Be well Jeff...
