Hey brothers, you've been MIA so far this season. How are your hunts going?

Good morning brothers. I've hunted, but between the bad weather and the lack of gobbler encounters, it's been a tough year thus far. So far, i've seen a few coyotes and I suspect that this is a contributing factor to the lack of turkey vocalization. Oddly, i have not worked up a hen yet. I will continue to get out there as often as possible since our season closes at noon on 5/31. Good luck and best regards.

Good morning gents.  I apologize.  Always very busy with 3 kids under 11 and work.  I was able to get out 2 times.  I missed the youth opener due to my son's sport commitments.  We did get out last Saturday for the general opener.  We did call a long beard off from a long way however he busted us.  A short time later in a different location I called a group of jakes in and my boy scored on his first bird which was a double beard!   We also found a shed that day and called a coyote in earlier however to busted us as I was handing the gun to my boy.  In Pennsylvania my boy is a "mentored youth" and I have to carry the weapon in transport.

I did make it out Thursday however I did not hear a peep.  I did find another shed (I hunt big woods-mountains and finding sheds is like finding a needle in a haystack!) and saw a good bear so it was still a good day.  Ia having difficulty adding the video so I added a screen shot.

The area I hunt unfortunately has seen a drastic decline in the turkey population.  I am optimistic that with hard work the stars will align!  This will be a challenging season for me nonetheless.  (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210509/8c03d477f95ae713dda6740a99647c28.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210509/f41b4e71e744e99fec04760444c3d817.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210509/8c449ec350da4593d4e8426bde6ba595.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210509/dd74a3da233a3ee5a196db95906eb89e.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210509/64a833d0f345fd993eace60275c81d89.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210509/896d4bf2651c2cd20dee2e768693e99e.jpg)

I feel your pain. That's the way it's been in SC the last few years. Keep after them!!

Thanks!

I had to dig this photo up.  My bird from 2010 when my boy was around 6 months old...then now!(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210509/41a21cd2cdf9ee1d76beeb55b5f0f352.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210509/6681a66f547eed5872cba381d11e8c96.jpg)

Kill one more guys! We could break top 3 this year if we have a strong finish. I think were in 3rd now but not sure if scores are updated.

No, we're in 6th place. But 3 or 4 teams are only 20 to 40 points ahead of us. So 1 more bird will move us up to 3rd. 2 more birds will put us in contention. But realistically, other teams will likely score again, so reality says we'll need at least 3 more birds to be in contention, and replace some of our lower scoring birds.

Hey Fellas
It's been a tough year. Hard to get out with work commitments and when I do the birds aren't cooperating. My South Carolina trip was a bust. Birds were henned up bad and I didn't even work one until the third and last afternoon of my trip. The hen took him away. The weather has been cool in Maryland and I think that has shut them down at times. I'm plugging along

I feel your pain Will. I didn't kill one in SC this year either, and I hunted 6 different properties!!
Seems the last few years much of the group has had seasons like that. Except for Hayudog. He's a stone cold killer!!
Hang in there brother!!!
