Spent some time yesterday messing around in the garage. I've had a few NWTF NY State turkey leg bands sitting around for a few years now. I had always planned on trying to use them on my strikers some how but with the size never could figure out how I would do that as they would add to much weight to a striker. Finally came up with a way to use one and it sounds great on this slate made by my friend Jessie Newsom. Also added a pewter strutting turkey pin to the top. To be honest I'm not a huge fan of acrylic strikers but this one really does sound good on this thin slate call and will be used this spring. I didn't try to reinvent the wheel here just wanted a way to use these bands. Real happy with the end result. I also believe this type of striker works best on the thin pot slates than the normal size pots we all use these days. The call I'm running it on is only a half inch thick.
