Title: Carlsons TSS Choke?
Post by: Johnhunter21 on January 23, 2021, 10:22:53 AM
Was curious if anyone has tried the Carlsons TSS choke with the .675 constriction? I have a 935 and plan to use 3" Federal #9s this year.  was wondering how it compared to other brands with the same constriction.

Just purchased one, I'll try to remember to post my thoughts once we get some consistent temps above 55-60 degrees.  I came into some 3.5" Fed heavyweight 7's at a good price and from what I found a non-ported choke in .675 was a good choice for those shells and the flite control wad.  I'm shooting an 835.

Have you had a chance to shoot?

Yes ive tried it with TSS 3.5 Apex 8's, 8.5's and 9's. It was a waste of time compared to other chokes.
This is a complex question you ask with a complex answer.
It may sound crazy but the length of your barrel will matter.
Carlson .683
Patternmaster .665
Both proformed better out of my 28 inch barrel than any .675 tube.
With the Apex 3.5's shells any choke will get it done at 40 yards.
We are shooting 80 yards and getting 130 to 180 pellets in a 10 inch circle at that distance.
Apex has changed the game..

My 935 has a 22" barrel.

This may not always be true, but my shorter barrels (under 26") were more finicky to find a choke they liked - 21" 870 and 24" Affinity....

I shot Fed 3" 9's thru mine yesterday and they patterned great.  I didn't count hits but it's more than enough to get the job done at 40.  I shot mine thru an 835, 24" ported barrel.  It also shot Fed HW 3.5" 7's pretty good also.

Haha thanks... Im pretty happy with it, especially the spread at 20 that gives a little room for error.
