I know a guy
And that guy makes some darn good calls
I have used woodhaven for years, but bought a grab bag off gooserbat last year and I will be buying more. One of the few that I have found to be good right out of the package without an hr of tuning

Halloran She Devil
Houndstooth have been pretty consistent for me Lyle makes a great call
I had never liked mouth calls before, but I tried the starter pack from Hooks. I can't say enough good about them. Called in and shot my first fall season turkey this morning with a series of kee kees and yelps. I will be using Hooks fmouth calls from now on.
I use a primos true double and a Preston Pittman black Diamond mostly. Fooled alot of birds with those two.
I mix it up. Quaker Boy Raspy Old Hen, old Boss Hen, Penn Woods Triple, Wood haven small frames and several Primos. Be safe, good luck....
Before I started making my own I used Houndstooth, mainly the Tom Bomb and V Cut. They make very consistent calls.
Tom teasers and pecker Wrecker
Sadler mcgraw ghost cuts, especially the judge and jury
Swamp boys phantom is another thats always with me. Has a very raspy back end for a ghost cut.
Cane creek Mr Death v cut
Hooks Heart throb
I make my own, but if I didn't I would be buying from Sam at Gooserbat for sure. He contributes a lot to the folks on this site.
Now, for those new to mouth calls: Finding the right call is more about what works for the individual more than who makes the call. No matter who makes them, some will be good for a specific individual,...and some will not. You just have to sort through them to find out.

I bought a grab bag myself and all were great calls. Love the bat wing and use it the most.

First thanks for the words of encouragement. Second your 2nd paragraph is spot on. I have a very good customer in Florida who only does good with a bat wing, a guy here in oklahoma who does good with a gulvis style or a boss hen cut and myself I like a ghost cut.
Was also able to snag 1 of Sam's "Grab bag" specials, this will be 2nd year using them and when they need replacing, back to Sam, was a great promotion for Gooserbat mouth calls. Very easy to run, dont even know what most of the cuts are, I will just have Sam send me what he recommends.
I like about anything with a ghost cut. Woodhaven ninja, both of Dave Owens, and American strutter are my personal favorites
Legacy
Like to use the Persuader by Hooks and will try the Heartthrob this year. I also have a couple from Gooserbat that will go on my first hunt..
Sadler McGraw, Dave Owens, and Houndstooth
Anyone here tried Shane Simpson's Prodigy Series mouth calls?
I'm going to be watching this....I have been "babying" a couple of MAD calls that I have used for YEARS. I just haven't found a replacement that I have as much confidence in as my V-cut(poison) and ShippWreck. I've had them forever and they only leave the refrigerator long enough for ea. hunt and then are returned. I probably need to expand into a few of the newer cuts as well....had to google what a "ghost cut" was. LOL
Big fan of Honey Hole Game Calls.
I've used a bunch of really good calls over the years.....Zink, Woodhaven, Gooserbat, Hook, Legacy all come to mind as some of my favorite call makers.
I recently was invited to try some calls from a local small company here in Pennsylvania. The gave me a bunch of different combination cuts and said go kills some birds with them and report back.
Feathermoon Outdoors is making mouth calls and custom pot calls that rank right up there with the best I've ever used for a very reasonable price. They will document your preferred materials and stretch and perfectly match another calls for consistency.
Give them a try.
Well I'm finally tired of buying mouth calls for this year. I purchased from Gooserbat(again), Sadler McGraw(again), Hooks (again), Del Crow (1st time), Dave Owens (1st time) and I picked up a couple of Denny Gulvas Master's choice calls. Turkeyjak hooked me up with a nice grab bag that run well. I ride around and run each call for 15 - 20 minutes and I'm settling on some for different applications. Some (very few) I just can't run that well, for me anyway. All the call makers were awesome to deal with! Now if I could just get one piece strikers off my mind I'd be set...
Delcrow, halloran, houndstooth all are 3 Reed batwing options thats what I run best. Hooks executioner 2 is pretty good as well
I'd like the try Dave Owens batwing haven't tinkered with any new mouth calls in 2 or 3 years just buy extra of the main ones I'm running

I've built my own for a few years now. When I bought em, I liked Hooks, Houndstooth, and Legacy.
Im glad they run for you Meleagris gallopavo i been making them for long time after throwing hundreds away I finally got the tone i wanted different from everyone else. Not all mouth calls are going to run for everyone & everyone is going to make them sound different that actually is a good thing. I also have plastic pot calls that are really sweet did not want the high pitch just wanted the pure hen sound worked hard and long time to find the right glue but pretty amazing for a plastic pot for sure. I just usually sell local that keeps me busy just a hobby i take seriously since 1984. Just in my area in PA last year my calls killed 9 longbeards with 3 misses. But if anybody is looking for some different calls look me up. I go by Last Dance Turkey Calls. Thanks
