Although I make my own calls and don't generally need to buy calls from others, from what I understand, Sam with Gooserbat Calls makes a highly-regarded mouth call. He is a member here and is very generous about hosting giveaways on this site, so I would recommend trying his calls out.

Second that! Love Sam's ICE style call in particular. Always have a couple in the vest.
Like mentioned above...Gooserbat Game Calls. I'm not a mouth call guy, but I always have one Sam's mouth calls in my vest. Great guy to talk to and even better customer service!

Plenty of GREAT callmakers mentioned. I'm a Hooks guy because of the small tape. I have a small palate and Hooks fit me perfectly without any trimming. Scott can make his calls with larger tape if you need it by calling or adding this to your online order form. He also makes calls with no tape as well if you prefer.
I'm a huge fan of sadler mcgraw's mouth calls.
perrytrails on here.
Gooserbat calls and hooks are very good call and good people to work it.

perrytrails on here.
I really like Bill's mouth calls. I'm confident you will be satisfied with them.
Thank you all for the replies. I ordered some calls today!

What did you wind up getting? Honestly also woodhavens run good for me they fit my palate really well and get a good seal on them. But I would rather buy from someone on here if possible.

I ordered several different cuts from Bill (perrytrails). I will likely try some others as well. Interested in McGraw and Hooks also.
Legacy
I am huge fan of Hooks mouth calls. It is all I use now. But be aware if you call Scott be ready to talk turkey for 30 minutes!!!!!
Got some from Daddy Rat that I like quite a bit, also a Batwing from another member here who's name I can't recall, also makes lanyards and not Steve or Anyone. I can see him in videos playing a trumpet but can't remember his name, if one of the members could help me I wold appreciate it. Also as mentioned above Gooserbat makes a fine call as well.
Maybe Del Crow DC Custom Calls?
Big fan of Daddy Rat calls. His "Blue Death" is my favorite combo cut mouth all.

Yes, thank you, I had Crow in my head but could only think of Val's company and I knew that was not right, thank you again.
I like Tom Teasers.

Kind of off-topic, but worth stating...
A word to the wise: you can spend a lot of time and money chasing mouth calls when the solution really is to focus on learning to control the sound you make with any of them first. Just sayin',...take it or leave it.
Hooks and Del Crow (savduck on here) makes some good ones
I have used 100s of different ones over the years and keep coming back to a Primos True Double which is a stacked call. Just seems to work for me.

Those stacked frames are great, I agree. I ran the Deadly Double for many seasons before finding Gooserbat.
Another great one is Denny Gulvas and his Master's Choice. That is an incredibly consistent and easy to run call.
I'd echo what a couple of others have said. I love Hooks because of the small tape. Bought a call from Sadler McGraw this past Spring and holy cow it is nice sounding.
Basically don't buy anything you can find at academy or Walmart or other big box crap. I tried to learn on a promos starter pack and it delayed my proficiency a lot. I grew a lot on the Billy yargus MAD calls. I think it was the cutntouch of I remember. I found the Billy yargus blue cutter by Woodhaven and that is the call I really learned control. I have used some houndstooth but didn't like them as much as my friends do. For me I would say Woodhaven makes some of the best all around calls. I recently bought some pinhoti diaphragms but have not quite mastered them. I love the sound of both but the ghost right now is more of a soft before fly down type deal but the batwing is more of an all around call. It's really just all about what works best for you. I have lots of friends that will pull out the houndstooth Dixie yelper over anything else.
David Halloran she devil works better for me than all that I've tried which is alot
I've tried a lot of 'em but there are a lot of folks making mouth calls. Some are better than others. I keep coming back to Hooks and some Woodhavens. Scott Ellis makes a fine call for Woodhaven. Hooks are consistent and they work for me.

The best solution to find that perfect mouth call is to buy about fifty of assorted brands. You will probably find at least one that suits you. When that one wears out in a couple of years, buy another fifty and go through the process again!
Of course, I am kidding,.....but then again, maybe not... ;D :toothy12: :angel9:
Another vote for Hooks, I have tried several different diaphragm calls over the years and hooks are my favorite.
I have used Perrytrails, Gooserbat, Sadler McGraw and Hooks calls. I'm gonna try Denny Gulvas Master's Choice this year along with a Del Crow call or 2 if I can get them.
Dave Owens (Pinhoti Project) are my latest favorite. Great quality control in the ~10 I've bought.
Cane Creek makes a fine mouth call. Personally like the M16 Tuff Man.

Before a friend started making mine I preferred woodhaven.
Houndstooth
I switched to Houndstooth a few years ago and love them. The KB hen, Double Bat Wing 3 and the "Ace" are my favorites.
Just picked up some Sadler McGraw mouth calls, his batwing, and judge and jury ghost cut. I like the high pitched Kee Kee I can get out of the ghost cut. These calls are easy to run for me since I'm just learning mouth calls. He is excellent to deal with and his calls won't break the bank either...
You can order Hooks from Shane Simpson @ www.callingallturkeys.com give them a try.
Thanks for all the great advice! I have ordered a few from hooks and perrytrails. Also bought a few from woodhaven that I'd been looking at for a while. Several others call makers I'd like to try but I've blown my budget already lol.
