Title: Remington 870 20" 3"
Post by: RED NECK on February 15, 2021, 08:26:07 PM
I just purchased this shotgun and a box of chokes.I like the short barrel and look of this gun.I picked it up,barely shot. I can't wait to put some lead down the pipe when I receive it.

I can't seem to load all the pictures as they are jpeg. The gun is drilled and tapped, comes with truglo turkey fiber optics, sling and a box of chokes,I am not sure which exact chokes right now.I will know later, but I already have a handful of turkey rem chokes.

I wanted one more to the collection for this year and this popped up and I bought it. I wasn't overly thrilled with tss for a 12 gauge when I tried it last year,#7's.

I want to try federal 3rd degree 5,6,7 and long beards 5 & 6 of course

Got home from work and gun was waiting for me,I received an improved cylinder and two browning chokes. The gun is in mint condition and was barely used, Its a 2008 model and looks like Its brand new.

The person I bought it from is selling off firearms that were left to him after a family death. I have lots of chokes and got gun for a great price.I have a "new" jellyhead, primos tightwad, longbeard xr ,rem super full and a rem turkey/predator wingmaster choke to test out. Going to be lots of lead to sling when it gets a little nicer outside.

I am going later and picking up 4-5 boxes of long beard 3", probably 2 5's, 2 6's and a box of 4's and when It gets nicer out I plan on patterning with the fiber optics and test the jellyhead maximum, tightwad and the rem hd turkey/predator choke, I also have a few tss #7's in 3" and Fed 3rd degree 5-6-7's to pattern, i am looking to find a box of hevi shot 3" 6's as well.

I'd like to stick with just the fiber optics but if needed I am going to mount a little reflex sight on it.

I have a primos tss jellyhead .650 constriction on the way,I'd really like to shoot 3" 7's in tss from this gun if I can get it to pattern well enough to make it worth the cost over longbeard's.

I ordered the long beards online.I will wait on the tss 7"s as I still have two left and want to pattern them before I pick up a box or 2 locally, for the cost of them now. I didnt really want to go to the local Canadian tire today and deal with them, and they were $5.00 cheaper a box online and I needed other ammo that only this place has as well.

I have done most of my shopping for ammo for this year, just "want" a few more boxes,I still want a sling for this gun,I am going to wait and pick up something different I don't already have yet.

I am heading out to take my labs for a run and I am going to stop and purchase a shurshot stock/forend if the place still has them, he always has had lots of them. This little gun has me more excited than the others for this year, I really would like to get this one shooting 3" #7 tss, if I can get it to out perform long beards.

I had to settle for the 1100/1187 realtree apg shurshot set as It was all they had. I attached the stock when I got home and I guess I have an extra forend for my 1187 if something happens, I also picked up a box of 3" tss #7, they are $13.00 plus tax cheaper than where I purchased my other ones the last few years.

I sent out an email to the place I get my guns dipped and If they still have the 3 week time frame, I am going to take this gun apart and ship it this week and have it dipped in the Mossy oak new breakup pattern.

There is still over 2 months until our season opens, lots of time to have it dipped.

Nice, congrats on the new gun purchase. I have one of these also in 12 ga and 20 ga with 21 inch barrel.. Both are good guns.

The gun is apart and packed, ready to ship tomorrow after work. I just am not sure which pattern yet, leaning towards new breakup, but also may go with bottomland or original bottomland pattern. Those are the only 3, he only has a handful of mossy oak patterns to pick from and those are the only three I like.

I had a single shot dipped in new bottomland a couple of years ago and it is definitely my favorite camo on a shotgun.

Hey Kid, could you PM me with details of who you use for the dip and rough cost? I've never had one dipped but am getting the itch.
