We have a winner. #42
I'm going to give up three diaphragms. My personal three favorite models. (New ones) Just post up your most frustrating senario in regards to turkey hunting.
I'll run a number generator sometime over the weekend and the corresponding post count gets the 3 calls.
Personally I'm not a fan of hush mouth gobblers.
Best of luck and thanks to all who have participated in the giveaways this year.
Trespassers..........
Thanks for the chance!
Cattle...
Finally call in that tough bird and cattle get in the mix and screw everything up.
Ticks and mosquitoes
Extreme weather
Another hunter moving in on a bird I'm working.
Someone stalking your calling and then shooting your decoy......

Another hunter moving in on a bird I'm working.
ditto
When another hunter clearly knows you're there and working that turkey and they come in on you anyways and spook the turkey off of you! Last time was 2 guys got between me and the bird and started blowing crow calls very loud! I'm still mad about that....

Having a big gobbler 70 yards and coming to my decoys in the field. The wind picks up to about 30 mph, and the decoy starts to spin so fast on stake that the gobbler rans off.

Road hunters.
Douchemonkey hunters
Other hunter slipping in on your bird.. on private land... that they don't have access to...
Bird on the wrong side of a property line.
Not being able to find a gobbling bird

Loudmouth hen coming in unexpected and cutting off a gobbler that is dead set on dying and taking him to the neighboring property....
Lack of birds in the area
Most frustrating part to me is when I don't have any local gobblers to hunt. Followed closely by when I do have them and they won't gobble.
Not getting to go.
Having the one other guy who has permission to hunt the farm, who has done no scouting, drive right under the roost 10 min before flydown and park 20 yds from it, on opening day, when i've been set up for 30 minutes in the spot they've headed to every morning for a week. Then the guys hunting the property across the road come out of the woods at 7:30am because the birds on my property are gobbling and there's aren't. So they start blowing a crow call and the triple gobbling bird never makes another sound, neither do the other 2 gobblers. So the guys get in their truck and shoot a bird from the road.

All the coulda shoulda wouldas that go along with every unsuccessful encounter. Hindsight is a heckuva better hunter than I will ever be!
Not being able to go hunting

Inconsiderate hunters. Thanks gooserbat!
Hens cutting off my gobblers
Birds that only gobble once and you cant really tell where it was.
Being on a loud bird and knowing he's henned up and nothing is making any of them move, but I have to get to work and can't wait for the hens to leave.
Birds only showing up when I'm not there

Turkey that won't gobble
When the bird is about to cross the private road to come in and the danged gas well maintenance guys come boiling through...two of 'em five minutes apart!
Lack of birds
others mentioned it, but when a tom i am working in is stolen by a real hen
had it happen twice this week but i got over it after scoring a nice tom today :funnyturkey:
Road hunters, poachers and a thinning turkey population.
Wind and Toms that are henned up.
Gay gobblers
Pressure
Corn feeders on the neighboring property.
1.Gobblers coming in on a string and lonesome Susie intercepts him and drags him away..
2. Gobblers working his way towards your call and a trespassing hunter gets between and shoots him right out from under you.
Having two spots to go to and Mr. Tom is not at the spot chosen. Will also add the amount of trash others leave behind.
Walking to the top of a steep ridge after a gobbler that then won't respond even though you know you didn't get busted or turkeys that won't gobble. I hate turkeys sometimes. :)
Lots of hens
Googans

Public hunting land
Too many jakes.
quiet birds
Most recently...Gangs of Jakes!
Quiet Birds.
Thanks a lot Sam.
I agree with a lot of the scenarios already stated, but I haven't seen anyone say anything about runners. Those old birds that gobble their hind end off and get you to come to them and then take off on a thousand acre chase, hesitating just long enough in spots for you to believe he may come to you. Then take off on the move again.
Stubborn gobblers that won't play nice!
Most frustrating for me is when I am set up and working a gobbler on public land, and some bumbling idiot comes walking in like turkeys can't see him, or something.
Non gobbling birds!
Having to leave gobbling birds to go to work :(
Getting busted by deer while your set up on a bird.
Too many hens

When a bird went quiet and all that coffee you drank is finally reminding you why you shouldn't drink so much. Do you move or wait because he hasn't gobbled for a while
when your working a bird and some idiot decides to walk past you and setup 50 yards in front of you and start calling as if your not even there. or the bigger idiot that almost shoots you and your hen decoy because he "thought that the turkey making all the noise was a gobbler"
missing :-X
then missing again the same morning on another farm >:(
then eat a biscuit cry in my cup of coffee telling hunt buddies move to another farm and miss AGAIN :z-dizzy:
3 longbeards misses in same AM, glad they hadn't started all day hunting yet :OGturkeyhead:
