Hey friends, I started this thread back in 2021 and it's time for an update! I started out making these call lanyards as a paracord project to do with my daughter. It was fun for a while but she has moved on to other hobbies. She has a nice sewing machine now and makes quilts, embroiders, and does all kinds of arts and crafts. In the meantime I'm still making these call lanyards. My call lanyards have evolved a lot in the last two years. I have changed from using 550 paracord to a much smaller 95lb paracord. This results in a much lighter more compact lanyard that can easily be rolled up and stuffed into a vest pocket. It also takes me much longer to make them now. I take pride in trying to offer the highest quality product I can and I will continue to evolve and change as I see new ways to make things better. That being said if you ever have any problems with a product you've bought from me please let me know and I will do my best to make it right. One thing I've changed on the turkey totes is the rings I was using. After a couple seasons I got reports of some rings breaking so I quickly changed to a more durable ring. As a matter of fact I'm not going to make paracord turkey totes at all now. I have started to make leather turkey totes and am excited to see how these develop over the coming years. I'm always looking for feedback on new products and designs. Feel free to comment or message me anytime with any ideas you have. I'm going to be updating the old pictures in this thread over the coming days to reflect the new products I am making.
As of now that includes:
-the "lightweight hunter lanyard" and the "lightweight classic lanyard" (the difference in these two are hunters are camo colors and a black bead, and classic lanyards are brighter solid colors like copper, orange, grey, etc with a silver looking bead) I sew thread through several places in these lanyards as an additional safety mechanism in case a knot was to ever fail hopefully the lanyard will stay in tact. I know how expensive trumpets are and I would be horrified to learn that a lanyard failed and someone lost a trumpet. I can't gaurantee to replace a trumpet but I do my best to insure you get a lanyard built with the highest quality possible.

-Leather turkey totes: These are handmade, saddle stitched, English bridle leather with solid brass rings. I'm still trying to different colors of leather. Like I said before I'm open for opinions on colors, design, length, and whatever else you can think of.

-Striker / Trumpet Displays: these are being made out of solid wood, right now solid oak that is 2 1/2 - 3" thick. They can be left natural, stained a darker brown or painted I suppose. The lengths can be customized to accommodate any number of strikers holes you prefer. I am stamping small circle pieces of maroon scotch brite to go in the bottom of each hole to preserve the tip of the striker. I will be offering some of these with a live edge on the front and the rest will be milled square. I have a friend with a laser engraving business that can possibly personalize these for you if you want a name or a simple design. This will add to the build time and require an additional cost since I will have to pay her for her work. Right now I'm making these displays for strikers and am working on some moveable dowels that you could place in the hole to display a trumpet on. Or if you'd like to order a display for only trumpets I can do that also. I haven't made one of these yet but will add pics here shortly. I'm fortunate to have a good supply of the oak. When my supply runs out I will have to adjust my prices. You can look up the cost of 12/4 wood blanks to see it's a little pricey. This example below has 33 holes.

Here's an example of my original call lanyard design. They have gotten much shorter as the feedback I've gotten is people prefer shorter lanyards with shorter drops.

Got my lanyard today! Sent a picture of the call I wanted it for and asked for the young lady to set me up. She did an awesome job. Think I will switch it between the ironwood and ABW. Highly recommend! Great price, excellent communication, and fast delivery.

Here are a couple lanyards and a new tote that are available for purchase. I'm liking this Kelly Green and Black combo. The lanyards are Multicam/Black and OD Green/Woodland. Keep at it everyone. This season is starting to slip away and we'll be heading into that long waiting period until 2022!

I tried something a little different today. I had planned to go to Unicoi but my parents got sick and I wasn't able to go this time. A friend I've met here on Old Gobbler messaged me and offered to pick me up a call that we had talked about. He recently got a super cool blue trumpet with an ivory mouthpiece so I made this lanyard as a gift to him for picking me up a call. This lanyard is braided 95# paracord and has a couple little trinkets on it. I really like this size cord for a lanyard. It's less bulky than 550 or 325 but is not as skinny as a single loop of 95. Well I liked that black and blue lanyard out of the smaller paracord so much I decided to make another one today. This one is in more hunting friendly colors. I think these are the perfect size! Spring is getting closer!
This one is sold but I'll be making more and different color combinations today.

Here is a picture of the new lightweight 95 lanyards next to the 550 lanyards for scale. You can see how much smaller the newer lanyards are. A few of you were asking me about the size difference in the smaller 95 paracord versus the 550. It's a little hard to show in pictures but here are two lanyards. I made the 550 black and gray paracord for my tube call last year and I just made one with the same colors out of the smaller 95 paracord. Here's something new! I'd like to introduce a new model of lanyard called "The Hunter". This model of lanyard will be made from the smaller 95lb paracord. It will be made from black, brown, and camouflage colors. Honestly there's not a whole lot of difference in the camo colors on paracord this small, but I have about three different patterns and we will start will those. These can be any combination of these colors black/camo, brown/camo, or just solid camo. These lanyards will also come with a black plastic bead instead of the silver color beads I've been using. Lastly the drops on the hunter models will come as short as I can make them where they will still open wide enough to fit onto the trumpet. Of course you can let me know if you want anything done differently. So here's the new "Hunter" model. I will be calling the other lanyards made with solid colors like copper, burnt orange, grey, etc "The Classic". The Classic will continue to have the silver looking bead.

I've gotten to try a few different turkey totes because I tend to misplace things permanently but I'm a big fan of these with the clip rings and adjustable length. Toted 7 with mine so far and gave 2 as gifts

I can't remember for sure but I just saw it on the shelf and thought I'd see if anyone wants it's. It's a "custom lightweight classic with two spread out drops". Sounds fancy lol. I think the person was wanting to carry a tube and a trumpet on the same lanyard so this is what we came up with. One drop is a little longer than the other. If anyone wants this I'll ship it to you for $15.

Here's a couple hunter model lanyards I've put together. The camo is sold but I can make another one. These are the "lightweight 95" models. They're made out of 95# paracord and pack down really small.

Here's a couple black and copper doubler droppers I made for a couple guys. He wanted to carry a trumpet and a tube on the same lanyard. If this is what you want to do I think these will do the trick. These take me a while to put together so they're $35 shipped.

Well I goofed up and forgot that the green and brown lanyard was supposed to be for a tube call. I made the loop trumpet sized so this lanyard is available for sale while I make a new one for the tube call.

Here's a beautiful Olive colored leather turkey tote for sale. It's the same specs as the others. Veg tan, English Bridle, hand sewn, solid brass rings. This leather has some cool marks in it already. I rubbed it down with Neatsfoot oil and it's ready to tote some birds.

I'm slowly getting a few of these displays put together. The 35 and 25 are sold. The smaller 15 is finished in oil and the laser didn't engrave quiet as well. So far it's been hit or miss with the laser quality. I'm going to buy my own in the future to help cut cost and improve quality. It's almost tine time to be toting these lanyards into the turkey woods. This is one of my lightweight hunter models. It's made out of 95lb paracord and packs up to almost nothing. It's comfortable to carry and is not a problem if you want to stash the whole set up away in a pocket. These are $30 shipped. (They take me a long to time to make, especially with the extra sewing I add in by hand in case any knots ever fail)
