I've changed my mind 1/2 dozens times trying to decide on a second combination. Really leaning towards the IPE / Chestnut. Or the bloodwood / chestnut... dang it! Lol

I was in the same boat, with the same combos as you.
It came down to the feeling that I liked the Ipe sound just slightly more, and the fact I have no boxes with Ipe.
When we were discussing my call over the phone he kept saying he is loving a pecan and beech box right now. About every lid he has put on them has been a killer. Specifically macassar, bloodwood, and snakewood being his favorites on pecan and beech. Maybe that will help with someone's decision! If your anything like me, I cut him off mid sentence and informed him that clearly his ear is much better than mine with the 7 world championships or however many he has, so whatever sounds best to him, roll with that! Have a 4th on way . Its sapodilla over american beech. My favorite so far is my ipe over chestnut.
So Matt e mailed me and said when he went to ship my box, he noticed that the sound had changed. He built another, but wasn't satisfied with that one either. Then he tells me he is shipping me his Ipe/Chestnut from his personal collection!
What a great guy to deal with. I would say he definitely holds his calls to high standards.

I was set on the IPE / Chestnut... until I saw this wormy butternut. Had to have one, so Matt is building me one. Pretty sure I could ask Matt to just reach behind him and grab one off the bench and I'd be happy - but I liked the looks of the wormy wood and I really liked the sound.

Somehow I missed that one on his Facebook page Steeler...amazing sound there, as is everything I think he throws together. There isn't one single call I've listened to that he makes that doesn't make me say "I need that!". That man can flat build a box!
Finally got it in the mail! She is amazing and runs great! First Snakewood Box and I love it. Matt Van Cise boxes are top notch and I guarantee will help in the assist of a turkey next year here in MO.

Yea Coop! I was happy with the Snakewood and Pecan Figure. And boy o boy that sound! Def be in my vest. I did ask for the dark limba. I believe it could be considered ambrosia as it has the worm holes and staining around them. Sorry it was the last piece but I'll bet he has more soon.

No I didnt get it. He said he has more wood on order and mine will come out of that batch. I will tell you that I have never heard a better yelp out of a box than the one I get out of this sapadillo over beech. The others I have are all great , but this one is the cats meow.

It's one on his facebook page. The ipe over chestnut is great but the sapadillo , man oh man.
Couldn't find the Sapodilla over Beech on his FB page. Out of the ones I listened to, I liked the Wenge over Wormy Butternut and Sapodilla over American Chestnut best.
You guys are killing me with these. I have a 4 box order from another maker thats been 15months in and I know if I buy a van cise that order will be completed and I'll have to scramble to pony up money and explain to the wife why I'm still buying too many calls.

My Sapodilla over Chestnut came today, and it's awesome! Definitely my favorite from Matt.... So far.
