Title: Stevens 301 Compact .410
Post by: davisd9 on February 28, 2019, 02:36:41 PM
Shot my son's little gun today. Used the SumToy I won from OG, thanks Shannon and William! Using Browning TSS 9s at a ranged 40 yards. Shot a little low but nothing aiming at head will not fix! Very happy!

I thought the choke was a fixed modified choke on those. Is that correct? If so, still a nice pattern.

No, it comes with a screw in modified.  That pattern was with a screw in turkey choke.

Are you shooting yours with a bead or a red dot? I am looking at the compact vs the 301 turkey with the longer 26" barrel. Either way I plan to purchase a sumtoy choke for it.

If it helps.  I bought a 301T yesterday. Using the factory choke it shot a little low.

im trying to get my hands on one, but everyone who gets one in stock has a waiting list around here and its sold that fast. kind of torn between the smaller barrel with a Jebs/sumtoy or the turkey version with a stock choke. what kind of ammo did you use for your shot out of your new 301T?

Federal and a hand load. I was in a hurry. Didn't clean the barrel or anything. Shot the Federal first and part of the pattern was off of the target (small target).  Then followed up with a hand load with a little higher hold.   Federal put 89 in the 10" with enough of the pattern being off target that I'm confident with the idea that it would've been over 100. The handload (#9s) put 117 in the 10".
