Trying to get my daughter's new gun patterned 11-87 compact 20 gauge . 4 chokes .555 .560 .570 .582 all different brands.  Shot Hevi 13 #5,  triple beard blends, Fed HW #7, Win. Long Beards. This was the best I got. Actual yardage 35 yards.  I didn't range it untill after I shot everythig is why it says 30 on target.   Do you think the Fed tungsten will do better?  This was a Carlson .560 choke (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180405/c5adf922eb0c4f70e25d43629e7b632c.jpg)

Yes. Assuming those Federal HW #7s are 1.125oz loads that means there are 246 pellets in that load. The Federal TSS loads are 1.5oz there are 360 #9s per oz so there are 540 pellets in that shell, double the Federal HW load. I would not shoot the TSS #7s, unless you cant get #9s, but there would be 277 pellets in that load, which is more than you have now. Problem will be finding TSS 20 gauge loads. You pattern now will work just keep the birds close.

Well these #7 are the heavyweight 1-1/2oz loads and nownimpossible to find. They should do the trick at 40. I don't want her shooting past 30 anyways. When I find some more I'll go more open on the choke and see how it helps. Due to our regs #9 shot is illegal here.

20 gauge .582 choke on the heavyweight 7s  did the trick. 30 yards.  Youth season is sat. My daughter's first turkey hunt. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180418/a10908a7b696dfc18d9d28049953d957.jpg)

I hope we have them to show.  She won a guided hunt at the NWTF banquet so I'm hoping they have done their homework. If youth season comes and goes I'll get her on a bird here around the house.

Good luck. You will have fun regardless of whether she gets a bird or not.

We rode it out sat. With a strutter at 44 yards for over an hour and 4 birds gobbling around us. While I knew the 20 was capable I wanted her first bird at 30 or closer.  She was determined to stay out.  Sat was fun. Sunday we got in a little late but with where these birds roost it wasn't an issue. We slipped in and added a Jake decoy hoping it would break the strutter if we seen him again. Well it worked but on a different bird. He answered my call and we waited. About 10 minutes later he showed. 45 minutes in the blind and we had this one at 35. Baby girl was on him and I told her to shoot. The #7 heavyweight flipped him over DRT. If I said I didn't cry along with her tears of joy I'd be lying. We laughed and high fived  over and over. She is hooked boys. 24lbs 10.5 inch beard 1 inch spurs.
