Title: Choke identification
Post by: Yotehunter243 on May 18, 2020, 09:28:33 PM
Just picked up an 835 off GunBroker and looks to be ported by a gunsmith and the choke is one I've never seen. A quick Google search looks like possibly Angle Port makes the tube. Anyone recognize the tube? It says Ballistic 690 (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200519/8437c4b0f810e5ac34e794ff6fc7386c.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200519/0acdedd4065ff7a355b74023d6e55379.jpg)

That choke appears to be from Ballistic Specialties out of Batesville Ar..I had one made in mid 90's that looks just like it..I believe a company called Angle Port took them over but they still have a web site but chokes are non ported now from what I've seen...hope this helps

On a side note not sure what you paid for it but I believe the price was $80 in mid 90's.

Thanks for the reply. How did your choke work for you? I haven't shot the gun yet but I paid $250 for the gun, scope and tube

It did very well mine was a Rem choke threaded .640. I had it set set up to shoot 7 1/2 shot at card shoots..I would say it would do very well with the new tss 9's as well but I have not tried it.

That sounds like a really good deal to me. Being .690 my first choice would probably be Longbeards in number 4 or 5 shot. I also have a 835 with a Stardot .676 in it. It shoots about everything well. If the .690 doesn't work out I'd look at chokes in the .676.-.670 range. Theres alot of good ones out there. One things for sure never seen a 835 that wouldn't shoot.Good luck

My plan is ordering a SumToy but this tube just happened to be with the gun.
