Title: tristar 410
Post by: Rbros on November 06, 2019, 11:24:55 AM
One of my wholesale catalogs has a Tristar Viper G2 410 in bottomland with a pistol grip.  What are guys thoughts on them for a youth turkey gun?  I purchased my 8 yr old grandson a 301 turkey in 410, but the Tristar looks like a better gun and would probably have less recoil as well being a gas gun.  With a red dot, the LOP shouldn't be to horrible and he would be able to use it over the next couple seasons before stepping up to a 20 ga.

Lol....you pretty much answered all your own questions. Yes it's a  fine little gun. We tagged 3 with the one I bought my wife & we both love it. Would be a great gun for your 8yr old. Low recoil because of gas operation.

Cutt down,

Did you have any cycling problems with the 410 loads?  Factory or handloads?  Thinking seriously of grabbing one and cutting the stock down for him.

No cycling issues so far! Tri Star seems to have it figured out. Everyone asks if it cycles & it does. Impressive little gun!

I have a triStar .410, the one that they raffled off at NWTF banquets.
It cycles everything I've put through it. Heavy TSS loads, slugs and light loads.
They're a great youth gun and a great adult gun. I think you'd be happy with one.
AND, let me tell you, that is a 40 yd. gun with Sumtoy choke and Apex TSS.

No issues at all with mine, love it.  Buy it.. the G2 bottomland w/ pistol grip is hard to find. My understanding is that gun was a limited run (about 100 made) last year. I'm lucky I got one.  I have heard recently there are a few more showing up. Maybe Tristar will make more into 2020.. or just put the gun in full production.

My distributor has an exclusive on them and has a bunch.  They are a 26" barrel for this run.  I may get one for myself as well just for the heck of it.  Not sure how to become a vendor on here but if enough guys were interested in them they would get a good price.

I was just looking around online for one for my boys and probably myself.  I have not been able to find one yet.

Interesting they would changed the barrel length. My though is to reduce costs because all the other regular Tristar Viper Auto .410 have a 26in I believe (could be wrong) I'm pretty sure the one I have from last season is a 24in...which I personally prefer. But the 26in will shoot tighter..

That was interesting to me as well so I called the distributor and Tristar.  Since its the same model # as last year the guys at Tristar said it will have a 24" barrel, the distributor has it mismarked.

Wchadw, the recoil is very very mild. My son is 7 and loves shooting his. My 4 year old daughter even gets in on the action. Gun has functioned flawless with every load we've run through it.

Thank you. My 5 year old wants to go hunting. May put him off one more year before letting him shoot. I was probably 6 when I started? So it won't be long before I am going to have to buy one. May take him this coming spring and call one in and not shoot. Not sure. Don't want to let him shoot or shoot around him too young and him be scared

I've been trying to find 1 of these as well but no luck finding 1. Has anybody been able to find 1 lately? If so and dont mind saying how to get ahold of 1 I'd appreciate it.

Anybody know if there is a fix to lighten the triggers on these guns?

Thanks
