Title: Hen Box #2
Post by: CMBOSTC on June 05, 2022, 12:07:46 PM
The first one didn't make the cut. I am looking for feedback if inclined. This call is made from snakewood and holly and was hand sanded to 7000 grit. Needless to say, I've been working on this call for some time.

Not sure if you changed sides half way through the recording, but I liked the first half better than the 2nd half......the first half sounded good to me.

Thanks Greg, I did change sides. The first side is clearer and the second side is pretty raspy. Thanks for the input, Greg.

I retuned both sides a little bit taking into consideration everyone's suggestions. It feels and sounds smoother to me. Please tell me what you think. Please watch the new video below. Chris

Sounds good to me, it does have the sound of different birds on each side.

There's something I want to hear in there that I don't.  Both sides.  But I just can't put my finger on it.

Regardless................... That call will hunt as-is, NO QUESTION.    :icon_thumright:

I'm still working on it. It's come a long since that video. When I get it where I want it, I'll do another video.

That other side is big time raspy, and may not be pleasing as pleasing to the ear as the first side you ran. However, about two years ago, I was sitting on a ridge and had what I thought was a man calling down below me. I was not really fully digging his calling (just the little turkey in my head I guess), but then it kept getting closer and guess what, it was an actual hen. Your raspy side sounds real close to what she was doing so give that call a whirl in the woods and it may be deadly when you do. I am pretty certain that that call will kill birds and it is a really nice looking box that you obviously have put some pride into making. Thanks for sharing.

Try to post some pictures when you score with that box in the coming turkey season. It will have to mean a lot when you do after all the work you have put into that box pays off.
