Title: CVA Scout
Post by: Niner on March 31, 2021, 04:34:01 PM
Just picked up a cva scout in 410 for my daughter and myself to use this year. Seems like a solid little gun and comes with a Jeb's xxfull choke. Haven't shot it yet, but figured I'd share since I haven't seen much info on here for them. If you have one and have shot it , let me know what you think.

I'll be patterning some Fed TSS 9's this weekend, and I just ordered a box of the Apex turkey ninjas to try as well.

Just picked one up  this evening. Have Apex ninja's to run through it. Hoping the Jebs works out good.

Here's the results from this weekend. I was having the same issues as others with shot being left in the wad.

My granddaughter uses the 20 ga. with Indidan Creek choke. It is a great shooter. I have used it a few times myself and like it a lot.

40 yard shot with Apex ninja 9.5's and the Jebs XXFull. Put 142 in the 10".

Finally counted out my patterns, 196 at 25 and 100 at 40. Need to try 40 with a clean barrel, seems like a lot of people are seeing the 410's don't like a dirty barrel.

Still need to pattern the Apex Ninjas

Was able to get out and shoot the turkey ninja 9.5 TSS. Here are the results:

25 yds is pretty devastating with either shell. And I have no problem with using the 410 out to 40. My daughter actually took the 25 yd shot, I'd say the turkeys are in trouble if I do my part and get her close to one.

It's been a slow start for me in SW PA, but I was able to try out the 410 on Saturday. 33 yd shot, 19#, 9.5" beard, 7/8" spurs.

Still loving the .410. Shot this guy yesterday at 23 paces. So far 3 shots and 3 birds with the CVA.

10" beard, 1-1/8" spurs, forgot to weigh.

Interesting thing about this bird, when I was breasting it out I noticed some shot in the breast. When I dug them out, they were copper plated #5 or 6 shot. So this bird was either shot Saturday during the opener or last weekend during youth season. Gobbled good for 50 minutes on the roost and came straight to me after hitting the ground.

I was able to and a buddy was also able to, break 200" with nitro t4100 #9.5s with factory Jebs. Absolutely smoked the Ninja shells. But I have taken birds with the Ninja, I just wanted to let you know if you're up to testing. I've seen 2 separate scouts, smoking with Nitro #9.5s. I've tried the Indian Creek .390 with a foxtrot legend 9.5x10 and have broke 220s" best pattern to date for me in a .410. I have a .385 Indian creek to test this year. Same constriction as the Jebs it comes with.

Nice birda.

Thanks for this information. Setting one up for my daughter now and this is very helpful.
