Georgia's own Jack Scott passed. Great maker of boxcalls. One of the most knowledgeable turkey men of his day. Many years as a Georgia state employee. He knew turkeys and their management.
Great hunter too. He killed many birds in his time afield.
If you don't have a Scott's Cutter in your possession, your arsenal and/or collection is lacking.
God Speed Jack. Prayers to Mrs Shirley and the rest of the family.

Jack Scott lived to the age of 89. A long full life. I will miss him.
Prayers for the family, Thanks for posting the article very good read!
Sad news. I hunt some a few miles out of Cochran and more than once had local people start conversations in turkey season and they always would mention their Jack Scott calls. Hunters in that area were proud that he lived there.

Prayers , hate to lose any of our turkey hunting members and call builders

RIP Jack. Thanks for sharing the above article.
Good read. Treasure the old schoolers. Not many left.
Sorry to hear this. Prayers for the family.
Proud to have known Mr. Jack and Mrs Shirley, and to own some of his boxes.
Good old man . live 5 miles from him all my life , hunted around and behind him most of my adult life . worked as a volunteer at his beloved Ocmulgee WMA pulling jawbones on deer hunts and mowing roads in the fall. Mr Jack started building glued up short boxes and pillbottle calls . His first request to build a long box was after Randy Wood the old Ocmulgee WMA area manager and I hunted one weekday morning , after hearing a Doug Camp Screaming hen Randy asked to borrow it and see what Mr Jack could do about making one . Mr Jack Glued a couple up and added his tuning peg to make the call more versitile( most Screaming hens will NOT purr). As they say the rest is history , lm 51 years old and knew Him most of my life since he moved to Cochran from Millwood plantation in Screven Co GA . I killed my first Longbeard on Ocmulgee WMA in 1990 in a spot he hunted regularly . killed a Black Duck in about 1991 and had to go by his house to find out what kind of duck it was !! Alot of memories between him and my mentor Tom Fisher also . He will surely be missed . Ms Shirley will have a big void to fill with his passing she hunted as much as he did and he seldom left on a hunting or fishing trip without her . Praying for her and the family .
God bless, RIP.
