Hi folks,
My name is Gary Stover, and I am the publisher of Turkey Hunter magazine (a new magazine that was just released in April). I am not affiliated with any other publication, and my magazine is not the typical "off the shelf" magazine offered today. Turkey Hunter encompasses "everything turkey", from articles and stories to some of the best photographs in the industry, as well as showcasing the outstanding artists, call makers and craftsmen in the community.
I only allow 5% advertising space in this publication, while other competitors include 20-40+%. As an avid reader of magazines, I dislike the amount of content space taken up with advertising. Advertising is a necessary evil in order to keep magazines afloat, however, there are ways of reducing the overall footprint. Readers are paying for content and that's what I give them. I could continue describing my magazine, but I won't. I don't push sales, I just offer the info and let the public decide for themselves.
Single copies are $10.95 while yearly subscriptions are $34.95 (4 issues). I don't have a website yet (I fired the web designer and started over). If interested, please contact me at freebird1228@gmail.com or call me at (470)439-0267.

I'm definitely interested!!! Ever since Turkey and Turkey Hunting bit the dust, I've been jonesing for a turkey mag. Frankly, as popular as turkey hunting is, I can't believe there's not a hot selling turkey magazine.

Out of curiosity, how many pages is Issue 1 and do you have an estimate on how large the magazine will be moving forward? Thanks!

I just received the first issue of magazine today. Quality of magazine is outstanding. Only got to read a couple of articles so far. Highly recommend it. I think it is great to have another source of information for the turkey hunting community.

If your on the fence on whether or not to get it, I recommend. Got mine the other day. Good articles on subjects I was interested in. Good hunting stories and pics. Few if any adds. Great pictures.

Received 1st issue 2 weeks ago, just finished reading all the articles, very well put together, good stories and interviews, look forward to more. I really hope Gary can keep this going, I will become a yearly subscriber.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Stover, yesterday in a VERY odd set of circumstances (to say the VERY LEAST). He graciously handed me a copy of Turkey Hunter, which I got to look through just a bit ago. TOTALLY IMPRESSIVE publication !!!!!!!!!

Is this magazine still available?
No. He announce a month of two ago on Facebook that he couldn't more forward with future issues. Supposed to be issuing refunds for those who subscribed.
That was an expensive two issues. Haven't seen a refund either.

I think you can write it off your tax return as a donation ... I don't think you will see any money back....
Got 2 issues and then zip. Sent in around $25 if my memory serves me correctly. Not holding my breath for a $12 refund.
Gary Stover, I can live without the refund, but do the right thing and come back on here and tell us you're refunding those that supported you.

The annual subscription fee was $35 - I paid that and I think I received exactly 1 magazine which was the first one printed - that's got to be the most I've ever paid for a single copy of a magazine

He had publishing problems for what I understand and the cost was out of line and caused it to fold ....
I paid for an ad and was told I would get a refund. It looks like he took everyone's money and ran.
Gary Stover where are the refunds promised? I bought several gift subscriptions and was told I'd be refunded for the half of the year I didn't receive a magazine.
I hope those that paid for the magazine get their money back...and I was also hoping the magazine would succeed. Further, I hope the guy's intentions were good to begin with, but it is clear he did not have his "ducks in a row". But, as one who is old enough to have seen several turkey-hunting-specific magazines come and go, I was skeptical about it from the get-go. Dreams and good intentions will only get you so far. The customer base for these kinds of endeavors just doesn't seem to be there.

Lets be honest, do you really need a " Turkey Magazine" filled with very few articles and a bunch of advertisements when you have the best information you can get from some of the best turkey hunters in the country right here on this forum!
It may have been a " Good Read" but here I can PM any one of these guys and any one of them is anyways willing to help.
There's very little politics here, some humor, a lot of camaraderie and no matter who you are or how long you been hunting turkeys you can always learn something.

Yea I think I got something like 2 magazines that never really were all that great. I was just happy to be receiving a Turkey magazine.
I have also just forgotten about the money. Like others have said I think it was $35??
