Spent some time messing around in the garage the past week. Finished up two glass calls for my SIL and daughter's boyfriend for easter and decided to turn myself something. I've been wanting to try a do a custom version of my first ever pot call from back in the day. The call was a Paul Butski two-sided pot. His call was glass on top with slate backside. Mine is ceramic with slate backside in a micarta pot. Very happy with the end result and look forward to hunting it next weekend. Thanx for the look. Cool, can't seem to remember seeing a 2-sided pot with the 2nd side(slate) being so big....In my mind that is probably a good thing.
Real nice...
Fine looking job...
That's a killer.
Good looking calls Bill!!!
Awesome caller Bill!
Thank very much for the kind words. In the original Butski call the slate on the back is 3" and the glass is 3.83". Anyone that knows me is aware that I'm not a glass call fan so that's why I did the3 1/2" ceramic and the slate is 2 3/4". Micarta is the only pot material I felt could go with the internal measurements I went with without falling apart. Fun project in the end and she sounds pretty good.
nice :icon_thumright:
That's funny Bill that you don't like glass, the two glass calls i have from you are pure smoke!

Yeah I have some goods ones here with my 2019 dymondwood call really spiting feathers. In the end I feel like I'm always conditioning the glass calls and it drives me nuts. Never have that issue with slate or aluminum.
Very nice Bill!

Very nice raspy tones for the ceramic and clear mellow soft stuff from the slate. She gets to hunt on sunday.
Thanx again for the kind words. It's projects like this that keep the hobby fun
Good luck this season Bill!!!
Very sweet Bill!!!
Hey Bill - I have that exact Butski call also. I never thought the glass
side sounded very good. I bet your call sounds a lot better.
Those look great Bill, they are going to be very happy with those for sure. Good luck up there this season buddy!
