Title: Checking Point of Impact with New Choke
Post by: MarkTwain Hunter on September 19, 2018, 04:02:53 PM
I have been using a  Carlson choke with Federal Heavyweight #5 shells (obsolete now).  My rear sight had to be offset about 1/8" from center to align the point of impact with point of aim. I have a new Trulock turkey choke to use with Winchester Long Beard shells. My new Trulock choke may require re-adjustment of my sight.    Can I check my guns point of impact using low brass shells, before patterning with the new turkey loads?

Yes.

I use cheap bird shot when checking poi/poa on a new gun.

I get real close to the target, so its easy to pinpoint center of shot.
