Title: Snakewood Trumpet
Post by: gergg on March 10, 2019, 03:45:13 PM
Almost finished with this Snakewood trumpet, thought I would share some pics since the sun finally came out here. This is my new model with the hollowed out bell(slightly different internals & overall length). Snakewood trumpets are a bear to turn, this wood makes you work & think very hard....lol

LOL....yeah, far away. This trumpet is headed to a new home next week, so no chance that it turns into a doggie biscuit. I replaced my Snakewood trumpet that was eaten by the dog with a very hard to find Camatillo Rosewood trumpet. It is not as "pretty" as the Snakewood, but it plays/sounds awesome, stuff was super hard/dense. I believe it is related to Kingwood, so right up there with ABW in density.

Thanks....it is always a relief to get into a blank and find good figure, especially Snakewood with all of the surprises it carries.

Very fine looking call. I would like to see that Camatillo Rosewood trumpet you made, I looked up the wood and it sounds very pretty.

Seriously appreciate that NCL....Snakewood is so beautiful and makes a great sounding trumpet to my ears.... but it is a handful to turn, stuff has a mind of its own.
