AnglePorting by Ballistic Specialties cut my barrel down to 23" and install a Nonported SS .680 turkey choke on my Mag 10, what would be a good starter load for it??? thanks
I like the Federal No-4,they pattern best in my gun. When I bought my Mag 10 in 1982 it arrived with a 26 " full choke .Mark Bansner cut my barrel down to 23 ",installed a permanent choke ,but some of the Nitro loads are too hot for my choke ,but people rave about their shot patterns.
All I ever had any luck with were winchester red double XX #5, High Volocity Blacks did poorly.
i would give the new fed 7's a try with a non ported choke.i have a ballistics 690 ported in my sp10 and i was having great success with win hv 6's but they stopped making them.
Found 5 boxes of Remington Premier Hevi-Shot magnum turkey loads 10 ga. 3 1/2" 1225 Vel. 1 7/8 oz of shot #6 shot.. You think they will pattern good with that .680 choke ???

They pattern good enough out to 50yards in by BPS with a PG.680....
Average 160 to 180 hits in a 10" circle at 40 yards in mine....
They pattern and kill birds as good or better than any lead shells
I've used over the years...
I would try the 10ga. hevishot 5s.IN MY MAG 10 with a rhino choke they throw the best pattern at 60 yds i have ever seen. We killed 3 birds last weekend in tn with the mag 10. 2 were 64 and 47 yds.Good luck
