I have a spot or two that I think I may have better chances of seeing a Tom if I hunt from 9:30 till noon. Do many of you have success with mid-morning hunts?
Yes

Shhhh. Don't tell anyone.
If you want gobbling and entertainment, get close to him on the limb and listen to the show. But I honestly think I kill them 3-1 long after flydown. Don't get me wrong, killing one straight off the limb is a blast, but 9-11:30 has been my sweet spot.
I've killed the vast majority of birds between 9:00 am and 12 noon. Sometimes I wonder why I even bother to get out there before dawn.
I hunt slow and steady. I kill more after 9 than I do before.
Yep. Later on in the morning they're getting dumped by their hens.
Yes...9:00-12:00 be in the woods, you're liable to find a lonely gobbler.
Buddy of mine...good turkey hunter...just hates to get up early. Goes out around nine or so and kills as many birds as anyone else.
Thanks folks. It'd be cool not to get up at 4:30 AM. I do love hearing all the gobbling and calling in the early morning though, plus I can hunt and still get to work on time. All of our birds this year have been killed before 7:00 AM.
