Title: using a mouthcall tape as a pattern for trimming another
Post by: tha bugman on April 12, 2018, 11:00:32 AM
I have one call that fits perfectly in my mouth, and I get a perfect seal.  Theoretically can I use it as a pattern to trim my other mouth call tape down without messing the sound up on the call that has the tape that I am trimming?

Sure, as long as you don't nick the good tape.....I took a shape I liked and traced it on a metal washer, then ground it to shape and use that as my pattern.....whatever works

I tried it on a few calls last night, worked well on some, not so well on others....

I made a template with a piece of Plexiglas, works great as long as the call has enough tape to work with.

Good idea, I also used some thick rubber as a template.

Make a template and clip it to the desired call with one of those black binder clips.  Then cut away.
