Question:
Will Hevi-Shot make better load for 10ga by spring 2012?
Option 1: No

Option 2: Yes, #6 shot

Option 3: Yes, #7 shot

Option 4: Yes, MagBlend

If they make a better load than #5 shot, I will really look at buying a 10ga for next spring. If they keep the same loads, I will keep using my 12ga. What do you think will happen?
I am hoping for MagBlends, but I am going to reload and have a box of Nitro's just in case.
If they do make MagBlends I hope it is 2.5 ounce 1200 fps with equal parts 5,6 and 7's. I am going to try them if they do come out, but if not I am going to try a box of 5's just to see.

They had it on their website last year but killed it for some reason.
i hope its as least a 2.5oz load
Lengthy talk on that load weight and what needs to happen..the 2.5 oz would drive a coffin nail in the market. A 2-3/8 is nice like the 5's but would be sweeter with 6's or 7's. I will still shoot a 2-3/8 oz load of mag blends..
10 gauge Magblend loads will sell like hot cakes
I e-mailed the company last year and they said they had no plans for further 10 gauge loads. I sure hope they have changed their minds.

I sure hope so!! :begging:
I'll take 30 5rnd boxes at 20 each right off the line!! :z-guntootsmiley:
I just talked to the heavy shot rep. at cabelas today and he said the 10 guage is losing popularity, but he did not say they would or would not make anything other than the # 5.
We'll know for sure soon enough...Don't believe anything you hear and only half what you see...I'm leaning towards the side of "yes we will"...
How much trouble could it be to throw #6's or 7's in the hopper instead of #5's?

None..but getting a large part of the market to buy a #7 to make it profitable is another ball game.. "WE" know about those but this is a specialty area also..#6's would probably sell better to the "BIG OLE PELLET" traditionalists...these are the lead 4 guys to be more specific... :icon_thumright:
One important thing of special note is that EM went so far as to specify the term "Mag Blend" when referencing a possible 10 gauge load - this would indicate that they will be hopping up the velocity from 1080 to .....1200 or more
EM makes several 10 gauge loads , 4 new waterfowl loads for 2011 - so one more for the turkey hunters sounds like a good business move on their part
they claim the 10ga is losing popularity but no one uses them because they cannot get premium factory ammo for them, i bet they will be surprised at how fast the 10ga mag blends sell

No 12 gauge could hold a candle to the 10, given the same loads. I am betting the hevi 6 or 7 loads would far outsell any 5 shot. I know I have yet to buy any but am chompin at the bit to get hold of 6 or 7's.

This is why most of the 10GA guys, including myself buy from Nitro. We can get what we want as far as a blend or a straight number shot goes. EM can nail that door shut if they want too
the 3.5" 12ga maxes out when the 10ga is just starting to breathe
anyone who has ever claimed that their 3.5" 12 gauge will outshoot a 10 ga has either 1. never shot a 10ga or 2. never shot a premium 10ga turkey shell
2 or 3 years ago before the hevi 13 mag blends and 7's came out, 10ga's were putting up 300's with nitros all day long and if you had a 12 ga that broke the 200 club it was something to brag about
This is true. The 12ga. 3-1/2 is loaded to the max. and the 10ga. is loaded to the minimum. When you ramp up the 10ga., the comparison goes out the window..It is like comparing a 3'' 20ga. to a 2-3/4'' 12ga....Mike :you_rock:
