Title: Strikers on a budget ?
Post by: Bobby5 on March 26, 2020, 01:33:29 PM
Is there any decent strikers out there at a decent price? I wanna add a few more strikers but dont want to break the bank. I found some decent looking custom strikers on ebay at a decent price I didnt know how those perfrom. What would be 3 strikers to choose if you only had to choose 3 ? Thanks

If what you found on ebay are from obsessioncustomcalls then yes, they are decent strikers, I like them quite a bit myself. There are some other nice ones out there from other makers and some not so nice ones.

Get in touch with Jeff (JLH) on here or on Facebook at JLH Strikers.

Just got my first two in the mail today and WOW!

Sure there's guys selling cheaper strikers, but these are every bit worth the money, and they're still cheaper than getting Fowler or Lyman strikers second hand with the prices they've been going lately.

I agree and only reason I did not bring up JHL or Neal here is because you asked about ebay only.

I would get with JLH and pick you out couple strikers , before just buying bunch of strikers. Six good strikers can run just about any pot call surface you want to play.

A good call with a cheap striker is like having a great rifle with a bad scope !!!
Go with JLH and get a couple of his OUTSTANDING strikers !!
You'll be glad you did......

x2 to everything here. Give Jeff your budget and the sound(s) you're looking for with your surfaces and he will set you up.

You can make a call and you think it came out really crappy sounding but with the right striker it's  becomes awesome. Case in point. last year I  had 3 guys stop by the shop. I pulled out a lot of calls ,should have used the lesser is more thought, anyway calls were narrowed down and 2 of the guys settled on the calls they wanted but the 3rd guy. He asked where my cast offs were.  I pulled a box out and he quickly went through them. He found a unique  call I  made with crystal over copper started playing it, tried a couple different strikers and found a sweet sound. The other 2 guys and myself just said dammm that's nice. He found the perfect mate for the pot.

Get a Rutland Dymondwood striker from a reputable maker and call it good. One of my favorites is from John Sinclair

Couple more sticks.  I do a lot of them in a black HD material like Dymondwood also.

Dymondwood, hickory, and either persimmon or tulipwood would be my top choices.

That`s four of my favorites as well for crystal and aluminum. The more I play my aluminum thunder from Enticer, the better I like it.

Got a John Sinclair Snakewood, and Stuckey's Strikers that are fantastic. The snake wood plays on every pot I have, sounds fantastic.
