Team GOATS 2024 / Re: Eggshell's sporadic hunt l...Last post by eggshell - May 02, 2024, 08:23:00 PMok this is how my season has been going. I only had about an hour to hour and half to hunt today. I went to my cousins farm and an old bird I call Rufus sounded off. I got to him with a good set up point and at the first call he was right back at me. Steadily the gobbles got closer and closer and I pre-positioned the gun at the last gobble as he was about to step in sight. Then silence and I am looking for movement and then the next gobble is going away, the next is further. There's a filed below me and I head there to get ahead of him. Then he gobbles on around the ridge and is barely audible. That makes him close to my cousins house. As I work my way down the hill the gobbles grow fainter and so I go to the truck and think I will drive up the road and try another approach. As I drive by my cousin's house I see a hen in the driveway and my gobbler strutting in her yard. I just laugh and go home

General Forum / Re: Taking the safety off...sp...Last post by Treerooster - May 02, 2024, 08:18:03 PMQuote from: Sixes on May 02, 2024, 05:07:32 PMSo, some of you guys disengage the safety before even seeing the turkey? I didn't get the impression anyone was talking about getting ready to shoot something from the sound of walking in the leaves, or even getting ready to. There are plenty of scenarios where a hunter knows a gobbler is coming, or thinks he is very likely coming, and can't get a shot yet. #35
General Forum / Re: Mexico?Last post by hpo - May 02, 2024, 08:11:04 PMI would have no concerns. When it's time, it's time. Chase the fun.
I would say that I've lived in some serious shitholes over the years. But that's my opinion and it's rather worthless. #36

General Forum / Re: Wisconsin 3rd Season Succe...Last post by kayl - May 02, 2024, 07:52:51 PMQuote from: The Baron on May 02, 2024, 04:00:42 AMCongratulations! How do the different seasons work there - is there a break between seasons? Can you get/do you need different tags for each season? Each season lasts 1 weeks, Wednesday to Tuesday. You put in for a draw for your first choice. Usually seasons A, B, and C are sold out through the initial draw, but it depends on where you live. On a specific day before the season opens, you have the opportunity to buy one bonus tag for a given zone that's open that day. The Saturday after all the zones are gone through you can buy additional tags. #40
