I've killed a number of birds and have had three, somewhat, goals: 25#, 12" beard and 1 1/2" spurs. I got one with 1 5/8" spurs several years ago and just achieved one of the other this year. My MO bird was 25.33#. Still waiting for the 12" beard!

I've shot two heavyweights, both in Illinois. Eastern of course.

26lbs 10.5 1 3/8

27lbs 11 1 5/8

Longest spurred bird was 1 7/8 but he was barely over 20lbs and a standard 10 inch beard

Over the years I have killed a 12.5" beard Eastern with 3/4 Spurs and weighed 20#

A 23# Rio that had a 9" beard

A 1 7/16 spurred Rio with a 9" beard and weighed 21#

A triple beard Eastern

And a 17# Jake.

Somewhere in all that there's around another 100 birds.  Some where really good as far as trophies are concerned but all of them created memories.  Some are more vague but memories none the less.

My biggest is a Rio shot off the Niobrara River in Cherry County Nebraska.  It had four beards, the longest was 10 1/8" with a total beard length of 30 3/4".  One spur was 1 5/16" and the other was 1".  Weight was a hair over 25 lbs.  The same year my good buddy shot another giant Rio off the same property.  Beard was 11 1/2" but it actually had a few strands that were 14"!  It got shot in the beard and they were literally falling out as we picked it up.  By the time we got back to the house to measure everything, most had fallen out so we went with the 11 1/2" measurement.  One spur was 1 7/16" and the other was 1 3/8" and it was over 27 lbs.  Genetics must have been crazy good in that area during that time period.
