Choke identification
May 18, 2020, 09:28:33 PM
Just picked up an 835 off GunBroker and looks to be ported by a gunsmith and the choke is one I've never seen. A quick Google search looks like possibly Angle Port makes the tube. Anyone recognize the tube? It says Ballistic 690

That choke appears to be from Ballistic Specialties out of Batesville Ar..I had one made in mid 90's that looks just like it..I believe a company called Angle Port took them over but they still have a web site but chokes are non ported now from what I've seen...hope this helps

On a side note not sure what you paid for it but I believe the price was $80 in mid 90's.

Thanks for the reply. How did your choke work for you? I haven't shot the gun yet but I paid $250 for the gun, scope and tube

It did very well mine was a Rem choke threaded .640. I had it set set up to shoot 7 1/2 shot at card shoots..I would say it would do very well with the new tss 9's as well but I have not tried it.

That sounds like a really good deal to me. Being .690 my first choice would probably be Longbeards in number 4 or 5 shot. I also have a 835 with a Stardot .676 in it. It shoots about everything well. If the .690 doesn't work out I'd look at chokes in the .676.-.670 range. Theres alot of good ones out there. One things for sure never seen a 835 that wouldn't shoot.Good luck

My plan is ordering a SumToy but this tube just happened to be with the gun.
