Gobble!

Took a younger hunter Saturday. Started with an early miss around 7. Had two other setups that I thought were slam dunks but was proved wrong. Believe one of the birds was the bird he missed early and the other birds clearly had someone they wanted to be. Came in fast from a longggg way off, went by us within 60 yards fast, then covered some distance fast and were long gone.

Didn't make it out Sunday. Took a day to help with the wife and attempt to stay out of the dog house.

Went this morning and called up 3 hens but the gobblers didn't come my way and I couldn't convince the hens they were with to come my way. Out of the woods by 730 unfortunately because the wife had to work.

Hoping to make it out the rest of the week for at least roost hunts but we will see.

Got to hunt once since youth season so far. The weather has been through up here and I figure I might as well work through the rough weather to free me up on better days. The day I did hunt I heard one gobbler sound off once. I tailed him and his hens until noon and he never made another peep. It's been a rough start for me.

Work my first bird of the Year this morning, heading within 10 yards twice but would not clear to give a shot. Hasn't been many birds around, that should be picking up with better weather.

Very pretty picture.

Thanks, I opened the back deck door and snapped the picture. Went to the office and fired up the computer and got some work done. Starting tomorrow I plan on hunting as much as work will allow
