I've killed a couple of fall turkeys with remington Nitro Pheasant # 5s. Out of a Remington Wingmaster with a Remington Ext Full turkey choke. It gave nice even patterns at 30 yards. Which is just right for a 2 3/4 inch shell.

I shot the old Federal Premium Magnum 2 3/4" #6's for a long time, I've killed them at 40 with that load.

Winchester Xtended Range #6's would be a great choice. There were a ton of turkeys killed before magnum loads. I have killed more turkeys inside of 25 yards than over 40.

Just for grins I shot a Xtended 2 3/4" number 6 out of my old Parker full choke 30" at 40 yards.  138 hits in a 10" circle.  My guess you gun might do just as well. 2 3/4" will kill a bird at 40 for sure.

my dad hunted with an 1100 with 2 3/4" win #4's.    watched him kill a coyote at 40yds.
