Pot call.  Had my son in law making pretty decent yelps and clucks in a few hours last weekend.

The easiest call to "master", if that is what you really mean, not just "good enough to kill a turkey", is going to be the call you most enjoy running.

To replicate the sound and cadence of a hen yelp, I believe a GOOD box call is the easiest. Properly weighted & tuned, it practically plays itself.

Pot call, Slate specifically. That said when using slate in the woods it's very finicky, need near perfect weather to get decent sounds consistently. As far as just using one to practice at home it doesn't get any better
