Friend and I went and sighted in the gun today I was using 3" #6 Winchester Longbeard XR's in a 12 gauge 1-7/8 oz. load at 1050 FPS With a Remington Turkey Super Full Choke. We did things kinda backwards, well as the targets will show I forgot I had the Birchwood Casey version of Shoot N See targets and just shot those after we were sighted in so only did those at 40 and 15 yards. As you can see I pulled a bit at 30 the shot on normal paper was fine but could not post that here as we had put the other on top of it.

The problem I mention is one shot did not discharge, the primer went off but the shell did not, extracted the shell, made sure there was nothing in the barrel and then continued with the next shot. Did not realize until after that none of the shot eve left the shotshell. I will post a picture of that in the comment area as I am only allowed 4 pictures to a post.

Ouch that stinks. That would be a bummer on a big gobbler. Click
Seen it on some YouTube video too. Well at least the shell didn't go off for him and it was on a Tom.

My first thing was to tell him keep it pointed down range for a minute then we ejected the shell and checked the barrel for any obstruction. Did not realize until after that nothing even left the shotshell. Yea that has me worried now, hope it does not happen with a turkey for sure.

I've never had one do that. Sometimes I get patterns that wonder around.

I am sure we all do, I think most of the times it is us and not the gun or the shell.

First off, looks like you have some nice patterns there.  Should be a killer for sure.

I have shot about 3 boxes of longbeards with no issues. I know everyone has issues at some point, so hopefully it is a one time thing.

Have you tried to contact Winchester?  I'm sure they would like to hear about the issue, may even want you to send the shell in to evaluate.

Yeah, I would definitely contact Winchester.

I probably been through 20+ boxes of various LBXR's and have yet to have a single shell fail

I had intended to today actually but I left the empty box in my blind with the lot number on it and have to grab it when I get back out there. Have the other 2 boxes I bought at the same time but sure they want the correct one.
