i have been looking at the voretex venom and the viper what are the main differences

USMC0331

Venom has differnt dot size options,  and a little bigger than viper. Viper was really designed for pistol mount . Both use a CR 1632 battery. Most mini red dot use CR 2032.

Well i just read that the viper has a cr 2032 and the venom a cr1632  . to me the battery is no big thing i am more interested in the sight its self  the way they mount etc

The main differences are the MOA of the dot and the Venom has a top loading battery, while the Viper is bottom loading, meaning you will have to unmount the sight to change the battery.

That said, I have had a Venom for 3 years and hadn't changed the battery yet?

The Venom also has the same footprint as a Burris, so mounting options will be more.
