My first from Ralph Permar came in today. Excellent craftsmanship. Runs great. Brass ring series number 49. Black ash burl barrel, African blackwood bell. Corian mouthpiece. A looker and a killer.

Ralph makes a good one.  I saw that one on his site and I think he had it at Nashville.  Congrats.

That's a knockout!  Really a beautiful call. It looks like it is based on his Model .45.  Is that correct?

Thank you.  I'm not sure if it's based on his Model .45.  Funny thing is, I reached out to him to order a 45 and ended up with this one.  He sent a note with a cool story about the "brass ring" with the call:

"Vintage carousels had a tradition; a dispenser usually contained a large number of iron rings and a brass one or just a few.  It took some dexterity to grab a ring from the dispenser as the carousel rotated.  The iron rings were to be tossed at a target as an amusement (also so they were not kept as souvenirs).  Typically, the brass ring got the lucky rider some sort of prize when presented to the operator.  The prize often was a free repeat ride.  The phrase to, grab the brass ring , is also associated with living life to the fullest.  So by the call's name, I wish the purchaser of a 'Brass Ring' turned trumpet, a full life and 'the prize', when this wind instrument is used in the field." - Ralph
