Almost stayed in the bed this morning because of the terrible weather. Wind was blowing 20mph and it was a rain snow mix, about as miserable as it could be for turkeys. Figured I would get up and go make sure no one had cut the gates open on our lease being opening day.
I roosted him with an owl hoot and snuck into about 70 yards. He pitched down and went the opposite way to some hens. I went around above him and tried to cut him off but he was already with his girls so I backed out.
Came back to check on him about 10 and heard him gobble 300 yards or so down the hollow, got set up and he along with two jakes were in my lap 10 minutes later.
