Tulip wood is a good one, bloodwood another

Black Locust. I use it a lot in my 3-piece strikers.

Ramin and tulip poplar for soft calling.  Chechen is one I've stumbled upon recently that is a very versatile medium hard wood.

The most underrated striker is any quality two-piece striker. I have several that sound better than some of the more high dollar one-piece strikers I've owned. I'm as guilty as anyone when it comes to being a one-piece snob but I'm running a Halloran two-piece Dymondwood on an OG Metal Mouth cause it just sounds best with that call. So, no more snobbing for me. I'll hunt what sounds best, not what looks best. I have a PIIIILLLE of two-piece strikers to go through now...lol

That's the truth. My favorite striker is a halloran 2 piece ebony. The new  2 piece diamondwood striker from dustin jones are mighty fine also.

I have a Stuckey holly striker that I really like for soft calling on a slate.  I have a Lyman tulipwood coming.  Can't wait to run that.
