I hunt Louisiana public land yes clear creek too and I have made turkeys gobble with crow calls, I have heard turkeys gobble at real ctows, owls coyotes, and everything else. Public land pressure shuts them down period. Early season the woods are wide open the turkeys stay in the trees longer with all the human activity early in the morning, they are seeing you stomping around a d the other 200 people behind you calm down drove slow , stop long and listen to what is naturally occurring in these woods you are looking at
