Just received an email from Herb. I have this green dyed maple burl trumpet coming. He said he hasn't made one like this in 18 years.

Can't wait for my buddy Chobrown to get his in so I can play it . Hate I didn't get to talk with Mr. Herb at Nationals as I was bending Mr Marlin Watkins ear pretty good and when I finished Mr Herb had snuck out.

Thanks gentlemen. I've had it in hand for a little over a week now. There is something special about Herb's calls. I'm not sure how he builds them, but the uniqueness is hard to put into words. Definitely a different feel than one turned on a lathe. This one will be cherished.

Herbs call are as unique as he is indeed.  Although I am friends with many trumpet call makers out there I will always make sure that I kill a turkey every year with one of Herbs trumpets.

The reasons are many as I value what the man has taught me in relation to playing a trumpet, the ease of use, the uniqueness of his craftsmanship as the man doesn't even use a lathe but most of all the damn things just flat talk turkey!   :icon_thumright:
