I have (had) a Remington 20 gauge youth model that I'm getting set up for my son to use (not just on turkeys) and since he's taking it over I need a new 20 gauge. I'm thinking about picking a full size one up to double as upland gun (I know the 21" works but I like the longer barrels) how is the current quality I've heard they took a dive a few years back but they appear to be better from what I've seen. anybody have one from the last year or so? Any issues?

I have a 3 year old supermag 12 gauge. No issues there as long as I don't short shuck it.

Bought a 20 ga youth this summer, seems to cycle well.  I haven't found either to have rough Chambers which have plagued 870s recently
Whoever said you can't kill em from the couch never was good enough to call a gobbler into the living room

That's good to hear. I'm a big fan of the 870 (obviously based on my handle). Now I just need to figure out wood or synthetic

My brother bought a Youth Lightweight 20 ga 1187 and it came w/a 20 inch barrel and a rifled barrel. He intends on getting a 26 Inch barrel for upland. A sweet light gun he calls his fairy wand. Its subdued blued barrels with a black synthetic stock. I thought it might be a heavy kicker with turkey loads but his 13 yr old daughter killed a 22 lb tom this yr with 2 3/4 inch Rem turkey loads. Might be worth checking it out on the Rem website. I think its 6 1/2 lbs soaking wet.
We wait all year, why not enjoy the longbeard coming in hunting for a hen, let 'em' in close !!!

Well I picked one up (20 gauge 26" wood since they don't make it in synthetic) so far everything seems good very smooth cycling. The action bars are straight everything looks good no hang up with snap caps. I'll shoot it hopefully this weekend. Now where to start with chokes? I have the Remington super full for non tox but I've read these longer barrels like a more open choke? I'm looking at picking up some federal #7 in 2 3/4 and 3" since I'll be patterning my sons gun as well. Anybody know what recoil pad fits the full size stock?
