Is there a such thing as a good commercial or production pot call?

Candyman

Cody Woodsman slate has called in a bunch for me. Turkeys seem to love the sound.

Bowguy

I agree w the Cody woodsman but at the price point you have lots of options

jbo225

I also looked at hooks assassin and zinks power hen either anygood

Jbird22

I don't consider Hooks as production calls.

My favorite is a Cody Envy Glass that I bought from Walmart about 20 yrs ago. It was the first "nice" turkey call I ever bought. It sounds better than some of the customs I own.

jbo225

Yeah maybe not only place I see it Midwest for hooks

jbo225

So these are the ones im looking at
Zinks - walnut power hen
Hooks- assassin
The cody- woodsman
The cody- envy
The Cody- II
Houndstooth- walnut slate
Halloran -Cherry Pot Slate over glass

turkeymanjim

Knight & hale scarlet fever is a excellent pot call for the money. You can buy them on ebay.

out of this list, definitely the Halloran
I'd tend to agree but if you need it now the woodsman unless you see it for sale somewhere. Imo forget Zinks

jbo225

That's where I was looking just need to figure out which one

SteelerFan

I agree with Bowguy - forget Zinks.

Really can't go wrong with any of the others. All reputable (and not "commercial" by traditional definition). If you're looking for a slate in Midwest, might as well consider a Lonzo also

Good luck!

I just got a Cody woodsman drop dead slate and im very happy with it.All suggestions so far are good calls also. I did run a bunch of "production" pots last weekend at Bass Pro and the best sounding call i played was the new Knight & Hale Canyon Rocker Aluminum. Great sounding call that i might just bring home myself next time.

Halloran Sugartown Sweetness II is probably his most underrated call and you used to be able to get it at Midwest, not sure if you still can. That call will flat out play and the slate side is just as soft and subtle as you can ask for. It spits out feathers on both sides.
